Shopping centres and restaurants open today
All shops, including those in shopping centres as well as restaurants, are open from today.
This includes table and counter service in restaurants, cafés and patisseries which have been limited to take-away and outside service on esplanades since 5 April.
Restaurants will have to meet a 4 person per table limit inside, and six outside. Food establishments may stay open until 10.30pm on weekdays and 1pm on weekends and bank holidays.
This next phase of opening up will also include cinemas, theatres, auditoriums and show venues. Citizens Shops where the public can renew official documents, will also offer face-to-face services although only by prior booking of appointments only.
From today, outdoor events can be held so long as these obey the 5 persons per 100 square metre rule. Weddings and baptisms can go ahead providing these events do not exceed 25% of the total seating capacity at the venue involved.
Medium risk sporting facilities can also proceed, as well as outdoor physical exercise activities providing not more than six people are involved in any one group.
The new measures for the next two weeks were announced on Thursday by the prime minister António costa after a Council of Ministers meeting.
