The Spanish energy company Repsol will invest €42.5 million installing 610 electric vehicle charging points at its fuel service stations in Portugal and Spain to meet the company’s goal to become carbon neutral by 2050.

“This investment is aligned with Repsol’s goal of installing 1000 electric charge points in the public network by the end of 2022, providing the largest number of charge points for its customers on the Iberian peninsula.”
Repsol says that this project involves investment worth €40.7 million from the Official Credit Institute (ICO), topped up by an EU grant of €5 million from its Connecting Europe Facility programme.
The programme aims to encourage the implementation of rapid and ultra-rapid chargers to companies like Repsol at service stations throughout Spain and Portugal.
As a partner in the CEF programme, the ICO allows Spanish companies to access funding for projects that contribute towards fostering energy transition and increasing energy efficiency in the transport sector.
According to Repsol, the 610 charge points will be installed by the end of 2023 at 33 service stations in Portugal and 577 in Spain.
