Lisbon Property Fair SIL opens

 In News, SIL

Lisbon’s annual property fair SIL 2022 opened its door on Thursday at the city’s FIL – Lisbon Congress and Exhibition Centre.

Once again it is running parallel with Tektónica, the Lisbon International Construction Fair. The two fairs will run until Sunday 15 May, this time with the threat of Covid-19 numbers rising and the unexpected scenario of inflation and fuel crises caused by the current war in Ukraine.
According to Sandra Bértolo Fragoso, SIL general director, “The new geopolitical situation has been affecting most sectors of the economy” and that SIL is not immune to the effects of the war in Ukraine but despite all the challenges, the sector continues to be resilient and with a demand outstripping supply”.
In an interview with Idealista, the SIL director said that among the challenges was an “increase in the price of raw and construction materials”.
Another topic at this year’s SIL is sustainability. “Various trends have been singled out which will make for a more resilient and sustainable future for our towns and cities with an evident need for more intelligent and sustainable buildings and infrastructures”, she says.
Sandra Fragoso pointed out that it was a challenge for developers to find a balance between profitability and sustainability in the real estate sector.
