The Portuguese IT company Critical Software has announced a partnership with the US company Turion Space to join forces on projects in the space sector.

The Coimbra-based Portuguese tech and software company has already collaborated with NASA and the European Space Agency.

“This partnership is a huge step for Turion Space,” says Ryan Westerdahl, co-founder and CEO of Turion Space, adding that “Critical Software’s expertise in integrated systems is unparalleled, and working with them accelerates every aspect of our business.”

Turion Space is a California-based space company that focuses on some of the industry’s most pressing challenges, including off-planet imaging. Turion’s innovative engineering solutions, including the droid 01 satellite and the StarFire operating system, set a new standard for dual-use technologies in the low-Earth orbit (LEO) economy.

This is not the first time Critical Software has set out to explore “the last frontier.” With a strong legacy in providing critical software since 1998, the Portuguese technology company has established itself as a reference in the development of high-risk software solutions for civil and defense space applications. The investment in this sector aligns with Critical Software’s mission to contribute to a safer and more sustainable space environment.
